Terms of Service

Short version: this is a research tool for your own use. Don't redistribute the work, don't abuse the platform, and make your own investment decisions.

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Unfair Signals ("we", "us") covering this website (unfairsignals.com) and the Unfair Signals research terminal (terminal.unfairsignals.com, together the "service"). By using the service you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Disclosures — the Disclosures are part of these terms and govern every score, verdict, memo, and performance figure in the product. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

What the service is — and isn't

Unfair Signals is a research and information service: it scores public equities through published methodologies, tracks hypothetical paper portfolios, and generates analytical commentary. It is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, or trading venue. We do not hold your money or securities, execute trades for you, or give advice tailored to you. Portfolio and position features are tracking tools for information you choose to enter. Every investment decision you make is yours alone.

Access and accounts

Access is invite-only and granted at our discretion; we may decline, suspend, or revoke access at any time, including to protect the service or its users. You must be at least 18. Keep your sign-in method secure — you are responsible for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep your email current, since it is how the service reaches you.

Acceptable use

You may use the service for your own personal, non-commercial research. You agree not to: share, resell, scrape, or systematically redistribute the service's content (scores, memos, rankings, data, or any substantial extract); provide the service to third parties or use it to build a competing dataset or product; probe, disrupt, overload, or circumvent security or access controls; use another person's account or misrepresent your identity; or use the service in violation of applicable law, including securities laws.

Intellectual property

The service — including its methodologies, scores, memos, software, and design — belongs to us and our licensors, and no rights are granted beyond the personal use described above. Content you enter (watchlists, positions, notes) remains yours; you grant us the limited license needed to store and process it to operate the service for you. Feedback you volunteer may be used to improve the product without obligation.

Third-party data and services

The service incorporates market data, filings, and infrastructure from third parties, and links to sites we don't control. Third-party data may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and we pass it through without warranty. Sign-in via Google is subject to Google's own terms.

Availability and changes

The service is under active development: features may change, be paused, or be withdrawn, and availability is not guaranteed. Access is currently provided without charge to invited users; if paid plans are introduced, pricing and any additional terms will be presented to you before you owe anything.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Analytical outputs can be wrong. Hypothetical performance has inherent limitations and is not a promise of results. Nothing in the service is investment, legal, accounting, or tax advice.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or trading losses, arising from or related to the service — even if advised of the possibility. Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars ($100) or the amounts you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time and may request account deletion per the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access as described above. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity) survive.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the jurisdiction in which Unfair Signals is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and give us thirty days to work the issue out informally.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the version published here is the one in effect, with its effective date updated. Material changes will be called out in the product's release notes, and continued use after a change means acceptance.
